Past First Amendment Surveys
For more than 25 years, the Freedom Forum has surveyed Americans about their changing attitudes toward the essential five freedoms of the First Amendment — religion, speech, press, assembly and petition.
From 1997 to 2019, the State of the First Amendment survey was conducted in partnership with Fors Marsh Group.
In 2020, the Freedom Forum launched a new benchmark survey, “The First Amendment: Where America Stands.”
